On a journey to be seen
"Surveillance Ain't Safety," a phrase coined by Tawana Petty over a decade ago, weaves throughout this workshop, making connections between disaster capitalism, racial capitalism and surveillance capitalism to paint a clear picture of how the trio of trauma is still quietly remaking the Motor City while connecting Detroit's reality to similar cities facing the similar fates, even as the global narrative touts the city's "comeback."
