What does it mean to be seen? To be watched? Are there consequences for collapsing the two? Observed: Hypervisibility and Reclamation explores the contradictions we face when surveillance is conflated with safety; when law enforcement agencies, governments, businesses, and institutions leverage digital and biometric technologies to track us, as well as our resistance and community responses.

Deconflating Surveillance with Safety (removing the conflation between surveillance and safety) Poetry Contest Submissions accepted until January 19th at 11:59 pm ET. 5 winners will receive $250 and feature in a monthlong exhibition. 5 runners-up will receive $100 and honorable mentions.
